2022 Philippine Election

I voted for this year's election kind of nostalgic because the last time I voted locally was 1986. After that, I became an OFW from 1993 to 2019 thus I  voted overseas although not in all the elections.
Indelible inked finger

The last time I voted, it became invalidated in some way because the 1986 People Power overthrow the regime of Ferdinand Marcos Sr. I was a college student then and I seem to have been influenced by the elites' thinking thus from then on I supported the Aquino administration. Then I went abroad to work and saw the political systems in those countries, and saw the responsible media in Malaysia and Singapore. I had to be back home after I had a stroke unfortunately.

This is the first election that I voted not as an OFW. I saw the campaign this time, and decided who to vote just to make sure not any of the co-horts of the Aquinos come into power again because 1986 to 2016, the country didn't improve. So in 2016, I was OFW then, we installed Rodrigo Duterte overwhelmingly as the country's top leader which saw a lot of changes and minimizing bureaucracy. Thus preventing the yellow to hold power is a must otherwise the positive changes initiated by Duterte will all go to the drain. It has to be continued. I voted for continuity. I know about half of my friends are all out yellow, pro-Leni, while another half are for BBM-Sara.

Funny but True

There is general election come May 2022 and traditional politicians are now busy preparing for that. Before even the official campaign, there are now advertisements on TV. Listening to them makes me vomit blood. Truly it's sickening listening to the ads of Isko Moreno, Win Gatchlian, Pamfilo Lacson among many others.

I can't help but compare the simplicity of the political system of Singapore and Malaysia, with their political campaigns only days before election, I experienced 9 days, the shortest, and 15 days, the longest. Not too much politics among the people, not too much time wasted on unproductive endeavors. They focus more productive activities that will spur the economy. From now till may 2022, it's going to be unproductive for the country. People are concentrated on politics.
They kowtow to the poor, it's sickening

Too Much Politics

In the Philippines, there is too much politics disenfranchising the interest of the masses, the poor masses, just too much compared to Malaysia and Singapore, I feel. In the same way, there is so much Tiktoking and showbusiness, and this is unproductive really for the country, and nobody cares. The establishment wants to keep the status quo, the rich including the politicians remain rich and powerful while the poor continue to be poor and at the mercy of them, the wealthy oligarch.

As early as now, politicians are scrambling for media mileage, and they do just anything to be on the headline. In Malaysia and Singapore, both better developed than the Philippines, they only have few days to campaign, I think the longest I remember is eleven days before election. Very unlike here in the Philippines where as early as now, some eight months before election, there is so much politicking of the powers that be as can be seen on TV. Totally bad for the economy, very unproductive and the masses are not aware about it, they are part of the system uninformed and unaware.

I feel like come May 2022, I may submit a blank ballot, maybe for lack of choices that will truly make the difference. Whatever I will do in 2022, I definitely won't vote these following trapos(traditional politicians).
