Summer Is Coming

     Summer is coming as many have been wishing since a week before Christmas of last year as it has been raining since then. The sun is out and hopefully this is the onset of dry days to come.

     With summer, it's the school break and village fiestas are happening in the month of May. I am not kidding if I say you need not cook, and watch out for the fiesta of the villages nearby to get free food. There are some in April and June, but mostly the whole month of May is fiesta laden.

     Hopefully this is the beginning of no more rain as it has been wet and the paths are muddy, and pools of water are everywhere. 

First Typhoon of the Year 2024

     Finally, after months of super hot and dry weather, there is rain courtesy of typhoon Aghon, which may landfall soon, the first typhoon of the year. It feels good to feel cold after all the sweating and humidity. The rain came this morning, although it has stopped now.

Cloudy skies 

     The rain is a blessing from heaven, my Malaysian Chinese friends say. In this case, it really is a blessing to the parched farms and fields. Many poor farmers are suffering from the drought affecting their plants and preventing them to plant anew.

The Weather

     I thought the sunshine and good weather the other day is the end of the moonsoon torrential rain. It is a gloomy day again and the temeprature drop is felt again. The path leading to our hut was flooded for several days, and when I saw it dried this morning, I thought we are going to have the good weather. But what I see now is a cloudy day with low temperature that can drive folks to cuddle.

Goodbye Rain

     The sun is finally out. It has been raining due to low pressure phenomenon and it has been relatively cold since Christmas.

     The cold front of December made the temperature low then heavy raining for almost a week caused flooding in many areas. Thanks God today it seems the sun is back. The sunlight dries the moist stuff in the house and the wet clothes we kept hanging in the barn. Hope this sun is here to stay for us to dry our clothes.

Here Comes the Rain Again

     I woke up to a drizzling morning thus I couldn't do my morning routine of walking. I thought the sun yesterday was the beginning of sunny days yet the rain came again. Hopes of drying the clothes for good have been dazzled. I am not sure how long it will be rainy like this. Is it the rainy season already? I am not familiar anymore having been away for very long.

    The rain is a blessing though from God, I believe. It carries with it magic that can wash off all unlucky stuff in your life. Perhaps I spent so much time with my Chinese friends in Malaysia when I used to work there who would tell me things like this. The rain too waters what the farmers sow in their fields making them grow into healthy plants. 

Unpredictability of the Weather

     It has been intermittently raining since we moved in to this new hut. I don't remember a single day full of sunshine. The rainwater creates mud thus the pathway leading to the main road is muddy. It's a headache to go out to the main road. Car is difficult to drive in here too when it gets muddy. I have to park my car in my nephew's house nearer the village road.

     This is cuddling weather. It feels good to tuck in bed under the comfort of the blanket. Great weather to sleep. It's a good time to drink too, and sing karaoke (as planned by my niece, to bring their karaoke machine to the above hut).

     Actually, intermittent rain and sunlight is a blessing. The rain is kind of watering the plants so it's beneficial for farming. The plants gets the sunlight they need then gets watered when it rains.

     Praying for a full sunshine day as this intermittent rainy days have been like everyday. We need the sunlight to dry our clothes at least.
