Unpredictability of the Weather

It has been intermittently raining since we moved in to this new hut. I don't remember a single day full of sunshine. The rainwater creates mud thus the pathway leading to the main road is muddy. It's a headache to go out to the main road. Car is difficult to drive in here too when it gets muddy. I have to park my car in my nephew's house nearer the village road.
Too much rainwater causes mud

This is cuddling weather. It feels good to tuck in bed under the comfort of the blanket. Great weather to sleep. It's a good time to drink too, and sing karaoke (as planned by my niece, to bring their karaoke machine to the above hut).

Actually, intermittent rain and sunlight is a blessing. The rain is kind of watering the plants so it's beneficial for farming. The plants gets the sunlight they need then gets watered when it rains.

Praying for a full sunshine day as this intermittent rainy days have been like everyday. We need the sunlight to dry our clothes at least.

Hope the Masses Do Not Fall for the Powerful Elite

Celebrities are towing the line for Leni Robredo as the country's next President. This is clear indication how the elite minority are thinking politically. I just hope the poor Filipino masses see this reality and do not fall to their campaign of elite promises, with the aid of the mainstream media who are fully behind them because they are so detached from the social reality among the poor masses.

Moving to a New Hut

I moved to a new bamboo hut in the farm about a week ago on a full moon as the old folks believe that moving into a new place will be bountiful on a full moon. I have been busy settling into the new place thus I was unable to write anything plus the limited wifi signal which in fact it was only two days ago we managed to get the slightest transmission.
The bamboo hut built by my niece and nephew

It is in the middle of nowhere, far from so-called civilization, I am sure some city friends will say. It is surrounded by vast empty land which my nieces and nephew inherited from my parents due to CARP(comprehensive agrarian reform of the Philippines) but that's another story.

There is a lot of space to plant here to kill my time. I dream of becoming a certified plantito filling my surroundings with vegetables and flowers. I can do them slowly in here. I hope moving in here aid me in my full recovery communing with nature and my roots as this is where I was born and grew up.

Will He Be The Next President?

I don't know but my gut is telling me he is going to be the next President. Lucky or unlucky, it depends on which side of the fence you are. I used to have a finite stand against them but now I am ambivalent, although I do know of how traditional their politics is. Sad that many feel he deserves to be at the helm of the country's top post, an indication of lack of viable alternative that will drive the country out of the doldrums of poverty and inequality.
The sad reality

How Can They Allow Such Foolishness?

In democracy, anything is possible and this is an example of its abuse. Unfortunately, something the Philippines is copying from the US, and it is bad for a third world country like the Philippines. The writer, a medical doctor, has the guts to pen a book like this when the world is beset with the pandemic. Amazon is brave to sell it, an irresponsible act in this time of global uncertainty.
This sounds like Trump

Funny but True

There is general election come May 2022 and traditional politicians are now busy preparing for that. Before even the official campaign, there are now advertisements on TV. Listening to them makes me vomit blood. Truly it's sickening listening to the ads of Isko Moreno, Win Gatchlian, Pamfilo Lacson among many others.

I can't help but compare the simplicity of the political system of Singapore and Malaysia, with their political campaigns only days before election, I experienced 9 days, the shortest, and 15 days, the longest. Not too much politics among the people, not too much time wasted on unproductive endeavors. They focus more productive activities that will spur the economy. From now till may 2022, it's going to be unproductive for the country. People are concentrated on politics.
They kowtow to the poor, it's sickening

Philippine Politics

There is too much politics in the Philippines which I never experienced in my 20 years in Malaysia and 10 years in Singapore. The governments there spend more time improving the country for the people's sake.
The opposition is scrambling, I am not sure if for real or a ploy to be in the headlines as part of mind conditioning

This Makes Me Vomit

He is a friend, a fellow student leader when I was in college. It may sound unfortunate but I know him personally. When I saw his post today, it churns my stomach upside down. He is a typical trapo, which I already felt when were students.  Pretending to stand representing the poor is anomalous. To me, it is simple exploitation of the system which has been controlled by the elites. Duterte tried to dismantle but he needed them to stay in power, so the other elite politicians aligned with him. Totally this make change hard to achieve in the Philippines.

Responsibility Should be Emphasized

I am for instilling in Filipinos, rich and poor alike, responsibility. The thinking of many is that they have regained freedom after the Marcos dictatorship and so they are free to do anything. They forget all about responsibility. Today there is huge deficit in responsibility, everyone feels entitled.

In Singapore, there is emphasis on responsibility and the government takes the lead in making sure the citizens get to appreciate it and make it part of their life. There has to be some control that the government imposes to maintain a progressive society. That what is lacking in Philippine society.
This is an example of how responsibility is stressed by the government in Singapore

Really?

This infuriates me, really. After many years of being away, of being an OFW, trapos (traditional politicians) remain powerful in this country controlling the politics and shaping the economy to the detriment of the poor people, the powerless. Just a shame! The poor are the victims of the social structure.

Scent of a Woman

If there's a movie that I can watch many times over is Scent of a Woman. In fact, there are two movies that I can keep watching, this and Dead Poet Society. These critically-acclaimed films I can watch over and over again.
